Young Coaches:

Marlow Cricket Club is committed to developing and promoting junior cricket for all ages and abilities. We have a thriving junior cricket section, running high quality and fun cricket sessions for our 200 girls and boys from School Year 2 and upwards.

We run junior cricket teams at age groups: under 10, under 11, under 12, under 13, under 14, under 15 and under 17.

All our coaches are ECB Qualified and CRB checked. A number of our qualified coaches are under 18 years of age.

Our younger coaches are ECB Level 1 qualified. They all regularly commit to assist our senior head coach for various age groups from school year 2 upwards during our softball cricket sessions, and Under 11 to Under 12 hard ball sessions.

Responsibilities for our younger coaches include : Running Warm ups / cool downs / Organising Small sided games / Coaching Small groups, under the direction of our head coach.

Our junior colts really connect well with our younger coaches, and listen and enjoy their cricket sessions with them.

Our younger coaches have developed new skills in communication, organisation, leadership, discipline, respect, and commitment which will undoubtedly set them up well for success in later life. For example, presenting new coaching skills to a small group has built up confidence in speaking in front on a group of people. Organising colts to take part in team activities will build their leadership abilities.

Several of our younger colts have used their coaching experience gained with us, for their Sports Leadership Qualifications at school.

Each year we will look to identify prospective new young coaches to train up and join our coaching team. Please contact Graeme Paskins (Cricket Development Officer) for more information.

ECB Level 1 coaching qualification details:

This course is a recommended entry point into the Coach Education programme for those candidates who do not necessarily have a background in the game. It is intended to provide candidates with an introduction to coaching and equip them to assist other coaches who will lead the sessions.
